Have you ever read House Beautiful magazine?
If not, you should. I love it – and I don’t even own a house. Perhaps they should start a a magazine called Studio Apartment Beautiful – I’d be all over that!
Even though I have no house to make beautiful – I do get so much inspiration from this magazine. The colors, patterns, fabrics and finishes are easily translated into all my crafting obsessions.
When I picked up the February issue of House Beautiful, I was immediately drawn to the yellow gingham chair on the cover.
My interpretation of this inspiration picture is pretty literal. I created my own yellow gingham pattern using the Papertrey Ink Faux Ribbon stamp set. I stamped horizontal stripes, then went back and stamped the vertical stripes. To achieve a more muted shade of yellow, I stamped on a piece of scrap paper before stamping the stripe on my card.
Next I dressed up the card with images from Vintage Picnic, Lemon Tart ribbon and a doily which I distressed with the Tea Dye Duo.
I filled the basket with cupcakes from the Tiny Treats: Birthday stamp set – the perfect accompaniment to the sentiment – I mean – so PERFECT!
With the obligatory lined envie:
And you can’t just taunt someone with an image of cupcakes in a basket, right?!
You’d better deliver!
I picked up this miniature basket from Michael’s (for $1, I might add!) and I’m so excited that I put it to good use with this project! I whipped up the Happy Birthday flag with a toothpick and some scraps of cardstock.
Here they are together, just ready to make someone’s birthday a little happier!
Have a wonderful Friday!
