DESIGN AND PRINT CHEAT SHEET

I definitely recommend watching the video several times and even working along with it as you learn how to design and print your own wrapping paper. To give you a bit more support in your creating, here’s a step-by-step checklist of what you’ll need to do!

  1. Purchase and download a “seamless pattern” from an online shop like Creative Market.
  2. Open Adobe Illustrator then click File>Open> Select your seamless pattern
  3. Make note of your pattern width
  4. Type Shift + O to change the size of the Adobe Illustrator artboard. In this case I am using Canon Photo Matte Paper that is 13″ x19″ Then type “V” to exit artboard editing
  5. Move the seamless pattern image to the upper left corner of the artboard
  6. Type Command+C to “Copy” the seamless pattern design
  7. Type Command+F to paste the design in front.
  8. Go to the Object menu and select Transform>Move
  9. Change the value in the “Horizontal” field to “12” since this is the exact width of my seamless pattern. You may need to select a different number depending on the width of your seamless pattern design.
  10. Change the value in the “Vertical” field to “0”
  11. Click “Okay” and you’ll see that the seamless pattern has moved exactly 12″ to the right and is perfectly aligned with the first seamless pattern.
  12. Select both patterns on the artboard by dragging your mouse over them
  13. Go back to the Object menu and select Transform>Move
  14. Change the values to: Horiztonal = 0, Vertical = 12
  15. Immediately repeat steps 13 & 14 to completely fill your 13×19 canvas! Now you’re ready to print your wrapping paper on the Canon PIXMA iP8720 Crafting Printer!

The info given is very informative. I had this idea of wrapping paper at the beginning of this year. The only problem is that I want my own designs to be printed not a repeated pattern online. Can you advice how I can do that. Is there a program I can use to create my own plz. Thanks in advance. Chanty.

You can design and print wrapping paper on your home printer using a roll of adhesive-backed paper. This will allow you to customize the paper with a pattern of your own creation, an image of a favorite painting or photo, or anything else you can imagine. You can rely on https://masterbundles.com/graphics/icons/colored/ source for colored icons. Once you’ve designed the paper and printed it out on the adhesive-backed sheet, all you have to do is stick it onto some plain white tissue paper and wrap up your gifts.
