I’m on a bit of a Cricut Explore rampage – so forgive me while I tempt you with one more project…for now.
By now you know my love for pretty gift packaging and considering we are smack in the middle of holiday season, there is no better time to pull out your gift packaging sorcery skillz. Now, if you don’t own a Cricut Explore, you could totally use this project as inspiration for putting your other tools to use. Either you could get friendly with a pair of scissors – or if you have a manual die cutting machine, you could use some of your dies to create the same shapes I use here. No matter how you tackle this gift box, you’ll want to make one. It’s just to pretty to pass up. Here’s how I made mine.
A note about supplies:
- the paper mache box is something you can snag at your local craft store. They come in a variety of sizes, so you can customize the project to whatever gift you may need to package up.
- let’s talk about those wreath shapes. I simply searched around in Cricut Design Space until I found a shape that I liked. If you’d like to use my exact same template, I’ve saved it here and I’m happy to share! HERE’S the link to it. Everything is sized and ready to go. Just hit “Go”
Supplies Not Shown:
- hot glue gun
- double-sided tape
- clear cardstock/transparency
{1} Use the 3 1/4″ circle as a template and trace it onto the top of your paper mache box
{2} Use a craft knife to carefully remove the center of the top.
{3} The finished top should have a hole cut from the center as shown.
{4} Apply double sided adhesive to the inside of the box top and adhere a piece of clear cardstock/transparency
{5} This will create a window top on the box.
{6} Cover the chipboard wreath shapes with the green cardstock wreath shapes.
{7} Use strips of the same green cardstock to cover the sides of the box.
{8} Use a hot glue gun to adhere the wreath shapes to the top and bottom of the paper mache box. Done!
Adhere the bow for a finishing touch and this adorable box is ready to be filled up with all sort of holiday goodies.
This project was completed as part of the Cricut Design Space Star competition. For more inspiration using the Cricut Explore, just follow the #designspacestar hashtag on instagram. You won’t be disappointed!
Cute, quick and easy craft if you have a Cricut Explore. Ok, maybe I just want an excuse to buy one.
that’s really cute. I can see jewelry or candies in that.
Awesome gift box! So glad you’re having fun with your new toy.
Hi Amber… I’m new to the Cricut – Did you cut out the chipboard wreaths with it? What do you set it for, and do you use a special blade? Thanks… LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your site!!
As they say, one of the best gifts is a gift made with your own hands. This is especially appreciated by a creative person. But for creative people, for example, for an artist, you need to choose a special gift. There are options here https://www.zippergifts.com/gifts-for-artists-who-draw/ that I would really like. You will also appreciate it!
Hello, I want to please a girl, to collect a good gift for her. Advise something, please.
For lovers of bars for a quick snack, the Lindt Nocciolatte bar is perfect. Chocolate hazelnuts have become a very popular part of many bars and sweets, which is why they are part of this bar too.
