Tell me I’m not the only one who stands inside of stationery stores and fawns over the prettiness. Even when I go to Target, I treat myself to a few minutes in the stationery aisle. Off the page greetings are a trend I’ve seen in a lot of printed card designs, but being the DIY-er that I am, I figured it was high time that all us stampy stampers had the chance to create something similar.DIY Off the Page Sentiments | Damask Love Blog

So…along with the Toile Gift Guide, I released a limited edition stamp set called Over the Edge: Joy that provides an off-the-page stamped sentiment that is perfect for those holiday cards. There are still some sets left if you’d like to add it to your collection! I’ve been stamping with it like crazy.

Hopefully you’ve had a chance to dive into the Toile Gift Guide and see the samples showcasing Over the Edge: Joy. Today I have two more cards, showing how this set can be used along with other holiday stamp sets…particularly, the Heartfelt Holiday stamp set by WPlus9.

The large size of the Joy sentiment in Over the Edge: Joy holds up nicely next to the banner and bough images in Heartfelt Holiday. Here, I double stamped the large sentiment to create a shadow and added some shading to the banner to create depth.

One of my favorite ways to use this big ol “Joy” sentiment is to remove the “o” and replace it with a cute image. This is a technique that I used in the gift guide and can be easily applied to this particular stamp as well.

{1}  Place the large Joy sentiment onto a Fiskars Stamp Press and apply Espresso Truffle Ink (can you tell that I’m mildly obsessed with this color). The stamp press makes it super easy to apply even pressure and get a nice impression.

{2} Use a wet wipe to remove all ink from the “o” in Joy.

{3} Stamp the sentiment and use the same double stamping technique from above to create a shadow effect.

For this particular design, I stamped a subtle watermark background with Fair Isle Background Stamp Set and I filled in center of the sentiment with the mug image from Heartfelt Holiday.

  9. A Christmas Story is by far my fav Christmas movie. Also love Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas. A lesser known Muppets creation from my childhood.

  10. On Christmas Eve I set my table with all my special Christmas linens and tableware- I call it my “Martha Stewart” Christmas Meal. AFTER I sit by myself enjoying the beauty of it and take a picture, I invite my husband and boys to sit down and mess it all up :). Thank you for the chance to win!!

  11. I think my guilty pleasure has to be the joy of being able to take a decent amount of time off of work during and after Christmas. I usually spend it in my pj’s, which makes it an even better guilty pleasure. 😉

And your cards look fabulous! I love your creativity! 😀

  12. We watch “The Sound of Music” as a family–which is a huge undertaking since there’s over 140 members in the family during Christmas! Our grandmother loves the movie so we all gather around her and watch it…

  13. Definitely Hallmark Christmas movies! I have watched several already! Your cards are fabulous! Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful ideas!

  14. Gorgeous cards! I think my holiday guilty pleasure is spending more time crafting than usual with excuse that it is for other people. Hhich it is, but I love it too!

  15. Watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas songs are my guilty pleasures! Andrea Bocelli’s Christmas album is simply perfect!

  16. Stuffing my face with all kinds of “holiday” treats! Yes, I love holiday eating but I sure feel guilty..especially with the inevitable weight gain.

  17. my holiday guilty pleasure is spending hours upon hours with my silhouette cameo creating christmas greeting cards in box sets to give to my friends as handmade gifts. So I would be very lucky if I had your stamp set on hand.

  18. My guilty pleasure is probably the extra coffee and desserts that I consume during the holidays! I also love making Christmas tags!

  20. I would have to say playing Christmas music, I don’t care how early they start! Oh and driving around to see Christmas lights and decorations.

  21. I wait all year for Starbucks gingerbread flavoring…I have them add it to a vanilla bean frappaccino…a little bit of heaven! The calories are enormous, but I manage to fit in 2 of them between Thanksgiving and Christmas!
