Bookplates. Also known as “don’t-steal-my-book-bookplates”…or maybe “yes-you-can-borrow-this-book-but-no-you-can’t-have-it-bookplates.” Whatever you wanna call ’em, we all know the purpose. Snazzy ways to personalize a book so that it doesn’t get lost or maybe just a nice way to give a gift.  I especially love bookplates for children’s books, but I am a firm believer that these sort of children’s stationery items should be child-friendly. Cute. Not $45 for a set of five.

High Society Stationery: Chilldren's Bookplates with Lawn Fawn | Damask Love Blog{What They Say} Hand engraved vertical bookplate with Giraffe motif in Yellow and Brown. Vanilla adhesive paper measuring 3″x 3.75″. 5 bookplates wrapped in glassine.

{What I Say} I guess all those people living the high-life have children, and I guess those children have books. So I guess those books need to be inscribed with some sort of ornate bookplate – but I can’t wrap my brain around spending a ton on said bookplates…I just can’t. Maybe these kids are reading the original works of Socrates…I dunno. I’m regular. All the kids I know are flipping through Seuss or learning how quickly your day can devolve once you give that mouse a cookie.

To be fair, $45 isn’t going to break the bank in most cases…but in my opinion, $45 for five small rectangles of adhesive cardstock is pushing it. I’d rather take that $45 and buy some more books!

Now, I am all for bookplates for children. They can be super cute and perfect for gifts..but let’s be serious, people. What kind of library does your kid have that requires $9 bookplates in each book? I can only imagine that it includes a special edition gilded copy of Green Eggs and Ham, that comes with a real chicken… who lays real green eggs. I’d pay good money for that.

I suppose $9 bookplates are the least of your worries when you’re living the good life. After all, your kids are off somewhere sippin’ Pelligrino and scribbling with Mont Blanc pens…let’s just hope they’re not scribbling on the bookplates.

In my humble opinion, children’s bookplates should be…well…a little bit childish. In a good way. This whole “giraffe motif” is just a little too serious. That giraffe looks a little stuck up if you ask me. Like he’s better than all the other kindergarteners. Not cool, Mr. Giraffe. Not cool. I’ve gotta project that I think it cuter, way more child-friendly and way more fun to create.

In the spirit of my monogram obsession, I thought I’d create a monogrammed bookplate that is perfect for kids. Thanks to the genius of Lawn Fawn – I was able to include an adorable image on the bookplate that coordinates with the monogram letter. When it comes to cute images…Lawn Fawn knows what they’re doing!

And because I think these are so cute, and because they are so easy to make – I challenged myself to create an entire alphabet of bookplates! Turns out that Lawn Fawn carries images that coordinate with almost every letter in the alphabet!

When you’ve created your bookplate, it also makes for an adorable tag. For this particular gift, I wrapped the book in kraft paper, then trimmed off the top with pinking shears. This gave it a cute “paper bag” look.

I’m thinking this koala is far more adorbs than Mr. Giraffe. And much less stuck up.

  12. Homework has always been a struggle for me, and I know many students face the same challenge. Recently, a friend recommended the assignment writing service at https://assignmentgeek.com/nerds-help.html . They claim to handle essays on any topic and complexity. I’m curious if anyone has used their service and if they deliver good-quality work. Your input would be greatly appreciated!
