I will never complain about busy. In my book, busy is blessed…and the next few weeks are going to be super busy! For the last few days, I have been happily occupied with my assignment as guest design for Avery Elle. This company is a relatively new kid on the block, but their stamps are seriously awesome. The quality is top notch and the designs are extremely versatile. On top of all that, their pricing is very reasonable, which I love.
Today, I’m working with the rest of the design team to create samples for the newly released set, Lots of Love. Even though Valentine’s Day seems eons away, this set definitely got me thinking about it. I’ve created two simple cards that pack a fair amount of colorful punch! Here we go!
The design of cascading images is one of my favorites! For this card, I repeatedly stamped the small heart image in shades of pink. I strategically placed one heart in the center of the card, then stamped the sentiment around it. I may need to hang onto this card for a while, I really like it!
TIP: To achieve the look of falling images on your card, choose a small image and start by stamping a very dense bunch of images across the top of the card, allowing some to hang off the edges. Then stamp just 3 or 4, sparsely across on the bottom. From there, fill in the middle. This will help create a cohesive flow on the whole card.
Valentine’s Day definitely evokes thoughts of pink and red, but it’s also fun to play with other combinations, right? Here, I created a simple pattern with blues & greens.
TIP: When stamping simple patterns like this one, I like to overlap the sentiment slighty rather than placing it directly in it’s own white space. To me, this makes the design more cohesive and creates a nice focal area.
After weeks of long posts, this one seems super short! But alas, we’ve reached the end of this post! Be sure to visit the Avery Elle Blog for more inspiration with this stamp set.

I love you blog – you know that! But, I have a request for you to consider. When you are emphasizing a word or company you have it in a very light blue. It’s difficult for me to see them in that color. Would you consider even a slightly darker blue? Not trying to offend.
Sue! Have you been talking to my husband?! He told me the exact same thing the other day! I don’t think this would be a difficult thing to fix – I am going to look into it! (And…no…that was not even a little bit offensive). I’m always open to helpful comments like that. Have a good one!
Wow awesome cards… Congrats on being the guest designer..
Love these and your tips for stamping, Amber! Congrats on your guest spot, can’t wait to see all your creations!
I love that falling heart design. I think it’s the overlap of the hearts that make it look so great. I wouldn’t think to do that 🙂
Thanks for sharing this one!
The cascading hearts are so much fun. Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the inspiration.
These are so fun! And thank you for the tips you gave!!

I LOVE the adore you card! So cute!
Love, love, LOVE the I adore you card! Going to make a few dozen for OWH (Operation Write Home) so that the loved ones of our heros stationed overseas can enjoy the design, too!
these are such pretty cards. I own one set of Avery Elle, but I can see my collection growing very soon.
Beautiful, Amber! Both cards are sweet, and I can understand your wanting to keep a hold of that first one for a while, it’s amazing! I might have to try that myself!
I was so happy when I saw you were an Avery Elle guest designer- I know I’m always in for a treat when your name comes up! These cards are adorable and so fun!
Beautiful cards but the card with small hearts is so beautiful..
Love the cascading hearts on the first one and the color combo on the second.
Wonderful cards…thanks for the tips. I have never tried these techniques so it will be fun to try.
Gorgeous! I especially love the one that is raining hearts, so so pretty!
I think the “Start Your Stash” series has been awesome and what great deal of time, thinking and planning went into it! Wow, you are amazing. I totally agree with everything you have mentioned in those posts. I have been stamping about 23 years and you have covered everything. I also found a beautiful new Christmas card to add to my stash to give out this year. It is the one using the PTI Mega Mehndi Madallion and putting the circle punch in the middle, genius, now why did I not think of that! So, making several of those today and that should finish off my 27 hand made Christmas cards this year. Now to write inside of them and address them. My goal is to get them out by next Saturday. Thank you for the wonderful posts, I just love your blog.
I’m new to your site and have spent a lot of hours catching up on your posts. I love the cascading hearts card. Thank you for sharing it. Happy holidays!
