It seems like a lifetime ago that Toile Gift & Project Guide went live and today, I thought I’d post my absolute favorite project from Toile as a part of the Visions of Sugarplums Blog Hop being hosted by blog friend, Lori…but instead of having visions of sugarplums, I’m having visions of poinsettias. Paper poinsettias. Paper poinsettias that are crazy easy to make.
Turns out that the paper punched flower tutorial has become one of the more popular posts here on the blog, so when I was coming up with projects for Toile, I knew I wanted to create a holiday version of this project…and let’s be honest, when it comes to holiday flowers, there is really only one option: poinsettias.
So grab your paper punches and let’s get started!
{1} Create pointed ovals using a 2″ circle punch as shown. You will need to create ten of these.
{2} Fold each pointed oval in half
{3} Using the folded crease as a guide, use a 1″ circle punch to punch a notch in the top as shown.
{4} Punch a second notch at the top of the petal.
{5} Punch a 1″ circle, apply glue to the circle, then arrange the petals as shown.
{6} Once the bottom layer of petals is arrange, apply more glue and adhere a second layer of petals, off-setting them slightly.
{1} Use a 1.75″ circle punch to create pointed ovals from green cardstock
{2} Use a 1/2″ circle punch to create small notches as shown.
{3} Continue creating notches until you get a holly leaf shape.
{4} Adhere the holly leaves beneath your assembled poinsettia petals.
{1} Use a doily punch or similar punch that will create teeny little circles. The “leftovers” from a hole punch could also work well for this.
{2} Add a dab of glue to the center of your petals and sprinkle the tiny circles onto the glue.
