Damask Love on Home & Family

Some things are just kismet, I suppose. I have proof.

Let’s rewind back to early 2015 – because you know I can’t help but tell a rambling story.

Back in early 2015, I was taking up residence on the right corner of our couch. I basically lived there. Markus was only a month old and I only moved when the he needed nursing, diaper changing or I had to go pee. That was it. Beyond that, I was working hard at taking naps and making an imprint of my butt in the sofa. Hey – I had just birthed a kid. I’d earned it.

My days were also peppered with a respectable amount of television watching. A little bit of Good Morning America and several reruns of The Golden Girls. I wasn’t terribly picky about what I watched, except when 10am rolled around. At 10am I was watching the Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family Show. No kidding. I was obsessed. They had segments on gardening, cooking, fashion, photography and of course, crafting. It was the only show I could find that had a legitimate crafting segment. So I watched it. Everyday. One day, I even sent an email to the production team asking how I might be able to appear on the show. I never heard anything back. No biggie. I still watched. Every. Single. Day.

Fast forward to  April 2016 when the peeps at Home & Family announced they’re partnership with DreamJobbing.com where one lucky DIYer had the chance to appear on the show. Obviously, I was ALL over it. It was kismet. My favorite show was finally within reach…sort of. I had to submit a video and wait to see if I’d be a finalist.

Well, sisterfriends. Two weeks ago, I got an email from Home & Family telling me that I’m a finalist. Out of 200 video submissions, they’ve selected 25 finalists and each finalist will appear on the show. Yes – you heard me. I’m heading to Los Angeles next week to bring all my crafty know-how to the Home & Family Show. Here are the deets:

Home & Family Show

Hallmark Channel

Thursday, May 19 | 10am EST

Once all the finalists have appeared, one person will be selected to join the Home and Family team for a full week!  I hope you’ll watch and support this little journey of mine. I’ll need your votes to increase my chances of going all the way. Just be sure you’re following along on Facebook for all the updates.

This is truly, truly a dream! After all, winning a chance to be on a national morning show is one thing but winning a chance to be on your favorite national morning show is amazing. It’s kind of like when you’re driving down the road and notice a Krispy Kreme. You say to yourself, “Hell yeah!  Glazed donut here I come.” Then as you creep closer, you notice the “Hot Now” sign is on. You say to yourself “Ohhhhhh S***! Elastic waistband here I come!”

Life really doesn’t get better than the “Hot Now” sign. Unless of course, you get invited to be on your favorite morning show…and that’s precisely where this girl is headed. I’ll try to make you proud.
