I usually give hugs. If you meet me, I give hugs. So don’t be alarmed. That said, if you see me today, tomorrow or at any point during the next two weeks, let’s go for the high five. Otherwise, you’re gonna walk away with a little extra sparkle. I’ve lost all self control when it comes to glitter. I can’t be stopped.
My new blog friend, Lia is partially responsible for my glitter love because of this post she shared a few weeks ago and now I’m taking inspiration from her awesomeness and creating my own little version of ombre glitter that features some of those pretty glitter tapes from yesterday’s post.
The technique is easy but the result is something that would make the perfect hood ornament on Liberace’s ride.
{1} Roll out your handmade glitter tape strip and die cut the edge with the Wplus9 Scalloped Border Die.
{2} Repeat Step 1 with all of the colors in your desired ombre color pattern.
{3} Started with the lightest color in the ombre pattern, adhere the scallop edge tap directly onto the sheet of cardstock
{4} Adhere the next color in the ombre pattern above the previously adhered strip, overlapping them slightly.
{5} Adhere all the colors until you have reached the darkest color in the pattern.
{6} Die cut the heart shape from the ombre glitter strips.
Of course, you don’t have to use heart shapes to create these pretty embellishments. You can hand-cut any shape you like or use any die you own to create beautifully impressive embellishments for your paper crafts, home decor or pretty much anything else you can think of.
I opted to use my ombre hearts to dress up a card and a treat bag.
At this point, I hope I have convinced you to join the Sisterhood of the Glittery Pants. We need to band together and change the world, one sprinkle of glitter at a time. Well…that may be a little ambitious. At the very least we can band together, so that we look a little less ridiculous with all that glitter on our faces. See you tomorrow for a simple idea for packaging up your handmade valentine cards like the one in today’s post.
More awesomeness. I really appreciate that you give suggestions for alternatives is we don’t have a specific product that you use. That helps a lot. Thanks.
Beautiful! Do you know if the scallop die works with the Fiskars Fuse? I’m trying to get starting with a die cut machine and am leaning towards the Fiskars but I want to make sure that I can get the most bang out of whatever I buy.
Hey Andrea! The Fiskars Fuse would definitely work with this die! I actually have an entire tutorial series on the Fuse that you might want to check out. Just search “Fiskars Fuse” in the sidebar search box. In order to cut with low profile dies like this one, you’d just need to get the adaptar plates for the Fuse. Hope this helps!

Love that your ideas are awesome, yet easy to reproduce! TFS
“Everytime I come around Damask-city, bling bling!” How could we say no bling like Liberace? I remember thinking as a kid that he was so cool to be so decadent! I really like the ombre scallop heart. Your tutorials are very clear. Thanks for the memories! Heehee
Another great use for glitter tape. 🙂 Just found your blog – very clear and though out tutorials!
