Mmmkay. Let’s pretend I have an extra five hundred bucks laying around. Let’s pretend I make a list of 100 things I’m willing to do with that money. #99: open a Sno-Cone stand in Siberia #100: purchase these cards…
{What They Say} A mandarin orange correspondence card is framed with an oyster white border to form a stunning setting for your words. The rich card color requires engraving for your name or monogram. Each flat orange card is paired with an oyster white envelope. Add a coordinating envelope liner to create an amazing set of personal stationery. Shown with optional envelope liner.
{What I Say} Have you peeled your eyeballs off the floor? You’re gonna need ’em for this one.
Don’t lie. You can’t read that description and not feel the hilarity wash over you like a sweet rainfall of dollar bills. Perhaps my favorite part is the “oyster white border to form a stunning setting for your words.” Unless I’m writing a million dollar Spielberg script, I can’t image what words need this sort of framing. And let us not forget that on these standard sized cards, I couldn’t even get a good soliloquy going before I ran out of space. And, no, you definitely can’t do that whole “flip-over-for-more” note with the arrow next to it. That just tacks it up.
Now let’s move on to this “optional envelope liner” mumbo jumbo. You mean to tell me that it’s not included? After I just took out a second mortgage to afford these babies? Surely you jest. Let’s put this into “regular-people-vernacular.” This is the equivalent of going to KFC only to be told that the biscuit is extra. Uh…come again? Clearly, I don’t NEED the biscuit but what in the name of sweet tea am I supposed to use to make that yummy chicken, biscuit and drizzled honey sammich? Yes, sammich. The biscuit …I mean, the liners are supposed to be included! The biscuit…I mean the liners make everything better. Quite frankly, at this price they should include the liners and some biscuits…as a good faith offering.
Even with all the snark I’m dishing, I really do love these notecards, which is why I decided to replicate them pretty much exactly… except with these my husband and I can still afford that nightly delicacy called dinner.
I went with a simple approach for creating the bordered edges. Now, of course, you could simply mount the orange cardstock onto a slightly larger piece of white…I mean, “oyster” cardstock, but I think the look of a completely one-layer notecard is really nice. I think it’s also how rich people sniff out the real deal.

Awesome work! Your cards look snazzier than the expensive ones! I may have to invest in some embossing equipment…
I’d have to say your cards are so much pretty and definitely look high society to me! Love them =)

The price of those cards made me laugh as much as your post did!

Yo,yo,Yolanda! If we were friends in real life…that’s what I’d call you! Thanks so much for your comment! This sort of feedback means so much to me! I try to write like I talk so that readers get the real me!!! Glad it came through on this post!

I have to know if the $536 price tag includes the optional biscuits!
HAHA! It should…and those biscuits better be delicious!
Yes, I was laughing inside at their arrogant description until I literally chuckled out loud at “feel the hilarity wash over you like a sweet rainfall of dollar bills.” I just love the fact that your elegance includes this kind of ingenuity! Your cards are gorgeous and an inspiration to do the same. After Easter. After I get all THOSE card finished and mailed. And rest. TFS, Celia
yours are beautiful!
Nothing short of brilliant. Kudos.
“Shown with optional envelope liners.” Optional? So you mean to tell me I have to shell out more of my money just to line the envelope? You’ve got to be kidding me!?! This wouldn’t make it on my list of “things to buy if I won the lottery.” Thanks for the post, Amber! You’re hilarious!
Once again, your cards outshine the high society ones! May I have a biscuit, please?
Yours is WAY better.
Okay, I want to play this game too!!!
You are so funny, Amber!!! I love your analogy of the KFC bisquit 🙂

Your version is Pure luxery inside out. That box is wow!
Too funny. Too cute. Great post.
Love your interpretation!!!
I can’t believe people actually pay $500 for stationery! Probably some Real Housewife from Somewhere who also has an eviction notice coming. Your version is beautiful and much more suited to my suburban working mom budget.
You crack me up and your work is to die for. Keep it coming!
P.S. Can you please, please write a book or have a show or something?! We all need a little more time with Dr. Amber. 🙂
Again you crack me up! Again, yours is much nicer than “theirs”!
Not only are your cards so much more elegant – they look rather more substantial too! LOVE the box – beautiful!
BTW, once again, I am giggling at your post 🙂
Yours are gorgeous! Theirs? Too freaking expensive!! Holy cow!!! over $10/card for a flat note?! Seriously?! WTHeck?! I won’t pay $10 for a FOLDED note card. I’m sure not going to pay $10 for a FLAT one! :/ I’ll make my Dr. Amber knock-offs and have much better looking, less expensive ones. So there!
You write in such a way that I can hear what you are saying (and I totally agree – seriously? $500????). Your sense of humor brightens my day. 🙂 You are so creative! Thanks for sharing!
