If I could, I would create cute candy-filled Easter baskets for all my friends and family. If I could, I would also behave like a normal, sane person when surrounded by Easter candy. I can’t. Those Reese’s egg things are my biggest problem. So this year…no Easter candy. I’m making stationery as gifts…I won’t eat that. Unless paper tastes like Reese’s eggs, in which case I will totally eat it.
This cake gave me all the spring-timey inspiration I needed. I saw it on Pinterest (can’t find the original link for the life of me) and was immediately inspired to translate the design into my language…paper. I took the elements of the cake and scoured my supplies for items that would give me a similar look.

Genius in it’s simplicity, Craft-a-board adds dimension to the elements of your paper crafted projects. If we’re being honest, when I first saw it I thought – “hmmm, I probably don’t need this if I have dimensional adhesives.” After using it though- I’m sold. It die cuts easily and unlike dimensional adhesives (e.g. foam dots), Craft-a-board gives you dimension without the risk of dents in your design. It’s also great for adding dimension to itty-bitty die cuts that are a pain to adhere with foam dots.
I opted for simple glassine bags to package these – cause ya’ll should know by now that I am obsessed with packaging. For a final personalized touch, I added these photo tags from Minted.
For those of you who observe Easter, do you have any handmade gifts planned? (If so, will there be any Reese’s eggs involved? Feel free to send them my way!)
Thanks to Minted, who provided a portion of the product used in this post.
That gold really looks beautiful against the pastel. Great job.
I have begun to make my Easter gifts for all of our family. I bought PTI’s basket die and really love it. We have one family member that loves Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups so I’ll put one of those eggs in his basket. I’m trying to use different kinds of material for the baskets. So far I made one using a cardstock covered in sequins and one made with PTI’s felt. I’m going to look for some corkboard sheets for the guys.
Such a pretty set of cards. Nice idea about the foam.
Amber….I LOVE Resse’s small peanut butter eggs. Just the right amount of peanut butter and chocolate. I too will NOT be getting these. To dangerous. I think I will splurge on some paper crafting goods instead! Happy Easter to you and Have a great spring! Will be putting something together for the KIds since I will not be seeing Lexi or Austin at Easter this year….time flies and I cannot believe I will be without both of them this year. The pains of children growing up! Thanks for the inspiration and the reminder that I better get cracking!
The card set is beautiful. Thank
you for the wonderful inspiration.
Yes I have started my Easter preparations,
but I’ll have to make an extra stop
for those eggs, now that you mentioned
them.
Beautiful! Love the design. Yeah, have to keep the Reese’s eggs out of the house. In sight=eating all of them. This project makes me want Spring to arrive today!
I don’t usually give anything but candy on Easter. Now I think I should add cards to that. This is beautiful Amber! 🙂
Beautiful and elegant cards and packaging. I love the touch of your picture on the tag. I love candies too (I am addict), but my love are the little Easter shaped Sweet Tarts. By the way, if you like dark chocolate I recommend Trader Joe’s dark chocolate peanut butter cups…I love them so much as I am big fan of dark chocolate! Thank you so much for the inspiration.
Ummm…Trader Joes? I would give my big toe to have a Trader Joe’s nearby! The closest one to us is 3 hours away!!! Those dark chocolate peanut butter cups sounds so yummy! I love dark chocolate too!!
So beautiful!
Ohhhh….so spring and gorgeous! Love, love, love anything chocolate!
What a magnifient cake, Amber – I can see why it inspired you! Your cards set is beautiful, and the packaging……”nuff said” 🙂
No Reese’s eggs here, but Starburst jellybeans are my downfall, so I’m trying to avoid eye contact with them in the stores right now… 🙂
These cards are beautiful and what a wonderful gift!!! Wow!
So awesome! I just discovered your blog last week through craftgawker.com and I am now slightly obsessed. I am planning to use these beautiful cards as inspiration for mother’s day gifts for my mom and mom-in-law! 😀 Thanks for making pretty things!
Hi Jenna! So happy that you found your way over to my blog! Thanks so much for your comment!
Hi Amber,
I’ve been eyeballing this craft-a-board and I’m set on getting some, but I just wanted to ask: I have some of PTI’s coaster board and I know it’s somewhat similar. When I put the coaster board through my die cutting machine (I have a Big Shot), it most always comes out squished from how it started and thinner, leaving me asking myself what’s really the point in using it. Does the Craft-A-Board do the same; get pressed down when it gets run through a die cutter? Or does it hold up better?
Hi Bonnie!
Great question. I know exactly what you are talking about. My experience with the Craft-A-Board is that it hold up better than the coaster board. Remember though, the Craft-A-Board creates a very thin, subtle amount of dimension on your card so it’s not super thick to begin with. Another thing to consider: If you adhere a piece of cardstock to the Craft-A-Board before cutting it in your die machine (as I did here in this project), it will get squished a bit more simply because you are rolling it through with more materials. Know what I mean? All in all, I really do highly recommend this stuff. It has all but replaced my dimensional adhesives for small die cut images like these letters. Hope this Helps!
Thanks, Amber! That helped a lot! 🙂
One more question…what kind of adhesive do you use to adhere the cardstock to the craft-a-board?
You’re too cute! Ask away! I use whatever adhesive I have around to be honest. Sometimes it just a tape runner or scor-tape. Sometimes I use spray adhesive or glue. You can pretty much use everything. Your choice will likely depend on the size of cardstock you are using.
Ah! You’re awesome! Thank you! 🙂
Oops…I meant that as a reply. 😛
What a cute project! I love it so much that I decided to feature it in our roundup of pastel crafts! Check it out here: http://www.favecrafts.com/blog/fc/pastel-crafts/
Have a great day!
I think it’s a beautiful set of cards. The pastel colors are very soothing, which is perfect for the holiday season. The monogrammed card stock and envelope reinforcements give it a more professional look. I often visit feminine PowerPoint templates source to download feminine templates. I love how they included the return address on the back so that you can write your own message on the inside of the card instead of having to write it on the front like most other similar cards do.
