Remember those plastic ornaments from THIS post? Well, those things have about a million different uses. Well, maybe no a million – but at least two – because I’ve got another really easy, really cute craft idea for using them this holiday season.
I’ve paired these ornaments up with the Print Then Cut feature of the Cricut Explore to make what might just be the world’s cutest little candy ornament gift. It’s crazy easy to make since the Explore does all the work for you.
By making your cardstock double sided, you add a fun layer of decoration and also make the ornament a bit sturdier.
{1} Once you’ve printed and cut your gumball machine image, just slip one half of the ornament through the hole. The really nice thing about doing this on the Explore is that I was able to design the hole to be a perfect fit for the plastic ornament. This way, I can cut this same design again and again and it’ll fit everytime. If I did this by hand with a circle cutter or a craft knife, it would be tough to be this precise each time.
{2} Fill the ornament half with candy
{3} For the half of the ornament that will go on top, use scissors to trim off the hang tab. This is optional, but I like the way it looks without this element.
{4} Place the top half and you’re done!
TIP: You might want to use a dab of glue to hold the two halves together – nothing is more annoying than a bunch of M&M’s flying everywhere!
