Tell me I’m not the only one who stands inside of stationery stores and fawns over the prettiness. Even when I go to Target, I treat myself to a few minutes in the stationery aisle. Off the page greetings are a trend I’ve seen in a lot of printed card designs, but being the DIY-er that I am, I figured it was high time that all us stampy stampers had the chance to create something similar.
So…along with the Toile Gift Guide, I released a limited edition stamp set called Over the Edge: Joy that provides an off-the-page stamped sentiment that is perfect for those holiday cards. There are still some sets left if you’d like to add it to your collection! I’ve been stamping with it like crazy.
Hopefully you’ve had a chance to dive into the Toile Gift Guide and see the samples showcasing Over the Edge: Joy. Today I have two more cards, showing how this set can be used along with other holiday stamp sets…particularly, the Heartfelt Holiday stamp set by WPlus9.
The large size of the Joy sentiment in Over the Edge: Joy holds up nicely next to the banner and bough images in Heartfelt Holiday. Here, I double stamped the large sentiment to create a shadow and added some shading to the banner to create depth.
SUPPLIES
INK: Memento Luxe Ink in Espresso Truffle |Memento Luxe Ink in Love Letter | Versamagic Pigment Ink in Spanish Moss STAMPS: Over the Edge: Joy | Heartfelt Holiday
INSTRUCTIONS:
Stamp the Joy sentiment in Espresso Truffle Ink // Then, without reinking, stamp again slightly off to the right of the sentiment to create a shadow effect. // Stamp bough images in Spanish Moss Ink // Die cut, stamp and shade the banner image then adhere with dimensional adhesives.
One of my favorite ways to use this big ol “Joy” sentiment is to remove the “o” and replace it with a cute image. This is a technique that I used in the gift guide and can be easily applied to this particular stamp as well.
{1} Place the large Joy sentiment onto a Fiskars Stamp Press and apply Espresso Truffle Ink (can you tell that I’m mildly obsessed with this color). The stamp press makes it super easy to apply even pressure and get a nice impression.
{2} Use a wet wipe to remove all ink from the “o” in Joy.
{3} Stamp the sentiment and use the same double stamping technique from above to create a shadow effect.
For this particular design, I stamped a subtle watermark background with Fair Isle Background Stamp Set and I filled in center of the sentiment with the mug image from Heartfelt Holiday.

On Christmas Eve, with everyone tucked in bed, I make a cup of tea and enjoy the fire and tree lights….soft christmas music in the background! With hubby beside me, very romantic and relaxing!

I think my guilty pleasure has to be the joy of being able to take a decent amount of time off of work during and after Christmas. I usually spend it in my pj’s, which makes it an even better guilty pleasure. 😉
And your cards look fabulous! I love your creativity! 😀
We watch “The Sound of Music” as a family–which is a huge undertaking since there’s over 140 members in the family during Christmas! Our grandmother loves the movie so we all gather around her and watch it…

Stuffing my face with all kinds of “holiday” treats! Yes, I love holiday eating but I sure feel guilty..especially with the inevitable weight gain.
my holiday guilty pleasure is spending hours upon hours with my silhouette cameo creating christmas greeting cards in box sets to give to my friends as handmade gifts. So I would be very lucky if I had your stamp set on hand.

I try to get Quality Street chocolates from England. Growing up we had them every year. It’s actually funny because we are Italian and live in MA. But it is a fond memory.

My guilty pleasure is sitting near the Christmas tree late at night and just enjoying the beauty of the lights.
We have a family rule that no one can buy anything personal for themselves from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Last year on Black Friday a pair of boots in my size just appeared at the check out counter. The year before a wool coat in my favorite color was rung up faster than I could say “Christmas elf!”
My holiday pleasure is a peppermint candy cane bathing in the a cup of hot cocoa while is relax and just sip away. Yummmm!
