CASE-Study: Springtime Quatrefoil Stationery

Springtime Quatrefoil Stationery HeaderAll month, I’ve been hanging out with the girls of CASE Study Blog. We’ve been revisiting a few of my projects and creating crafty goodies inspired by each one. Today is my last day with them and I’m going out in a shower of springtimey hues.

I fully intend to ride this whole quatrefoil trend well past it’s prime. I pretty much feel the same way about mason jars, chevrons and cake pops. I don’t follow trends, people…I wear them out! Lucky for me, I think the cool kids are still jonesing on quatrefoil, so it’s okay for me to use it in today’s post.

The inspiration for my project comes from THIS post, where I trimmed down the Papertrey Ink Quatrefoil die so that it would work on a pair of 4bar cards. Today, I’m taking the same approach but with a different technique as well as a fun, bold color scheme.
Quatrefoil-Inspiration

Quatrefoil StationeryThe Papertrey Quatrefoil die fits on a standard A2 card front, but personally, I love smaller notecards, so I came up with an easy way to recreate the framed edge of the die on a smaller scale.

4bar Quatrefoil Stationery Supples

  • Cardstock (white, pink & red)
  • Papertrey Ink Quatrefoil Die
  • Papertrey Ink Rosie Posie Stamp Set
  • Circle Dies in 1/4″ increments to create window & window frame
  • White Cardbases trimmed to 4bar size (3 1/2″ x 4 7/8″)
  • Assorted embellishments (I used paper bows and banners stamped with various greetings)

4bar Quatrefoil Stationery Instructions

{1} On a piece of 4bar sized cardstock, use a ruler to pencil in a frame that is 1/4″ from the edge.

{2} Use a craft knife to cut along the pencil lines. A ruler will help with this, just hold the ruler along the line, then drag the craft knife down the edge of the ruler to get a perfectly straight cut.

{3} Adhere the frame you’ve created onto the quatrefoil die cut.

{4} Trim along the edges of your frame, creating a new, 4bar-sized frame for the quatrefoil pattern.

{5} Adhere the 4bar quatrefoil pattern onto a piece of cardstock that is cut to the same size. In the center, die cut a circle window, then create a frame for the window using two circle dies that differ by 1/4″ in size.

{6} To create a card from the quatrefoil card front, trim down the front of a 4bar cardbase so that only 1/2″ remains on the front. Adhere the quatrefoil cardfront to this flap.
