Things got pretty heated on the Damask Love Facebook and Instagram pages yesterday…well, maybe not heated, but we did have some interesting banter about a highly controversial topic…candy corn.

Do you love it?  Do you hate it? Do you care?

Personally, I am NOT a fan of candy corn…and that’s putting it gently. I hate the stuff. To me it tastes sugary,  grainy, stale gum – and let’s be honest, if someone came up to you and said “Hey, want some of this sugary, grainy, stale gum – you would say “Um..no I most certainly do not.”

Much to my surprise, there were plenty of staunch candy corn supporters. I respect that. I like people with strong opinions.

So… today, I thought it’d be fun to immortalize The Damask Love Candy Corn Debate of 2012 with a couple of graphics that summarize the two sides in this matter.

First, for the anti-candy-corners…a little quote from yours truly. Something I said to a coworker when she asked me if I liked it:

Quote about Candy Corn

Yep – that ’bout sums up my opinion of candy corn!

But to be fair, I should give a voice to the pr0-candy-corn contingency, so here’s a quote straight from a reader that literally made me laugh out loud when I read it:

Quote about Candy Corn

What’s your position on candy corn? Share it here – or come on over to Facebook to discuss. And…I’ll be back later with a candy corn inspired project as well as an announcement! PHEW! It’s a busy Friday here at Damask Love!  See you later gators!

  1. Funny! I could take it or leave it, personally. Sometimes it can be good, all buttery, sweet and smooth, and other times, like you said – grainy, lol!! Either way, it looks cute, though!!!

  2. We don’t have candy corn in the UK – all the stamps you guys have for it confused me so I googled it. Looks cute but sounds odd. We tend to give away Haribo’s over here for Halloween.

  3. I like candy corn and it’s really good with something salty like peanuts. However my favorite of the overly sweet Haloween candy varity is the little pumpkins. I just realized I have been good and haven’t had any this year! But they are really yummy. That’s my two cents!

  4. I can’t stand candy corn!! I started to think I was alone, until now. Even my kids won’t eat it (and that there alone, should say something about the stuff!). lol Ahh, but each to their own. I love the quote you came up with! 🙂 I agree 100%!

  5. Candy Corn is one of my favorite treats of the season. I love the crunchiness and the sweet taste and it brings back plesant memories. It just feels downright nostalgic when I think about the cute little Turkey Tail Feathers that I would make with Candy Corn in Grade School.

  6. When my nephew was a pre-schooler he had a special word for foods that he thought were really gross: misgusting. Candy corn is the ultimate in misgusting. It tastes like sugar and wax (because IT IS sugar and wax).

  7. Revolting stuff – I can’t stand it, not even when I was a kid. But I totally love the fonts you used in the graphics!!

  8. I’m from Australia – I’ve never seen candy corn in my life, and we don’t really celebrate Halloween much at all over here – I’ve been feeling a little left out with all the Halloween cards on blogs all over the place lately – bring on Christmas!

  9. Eating candy corn on it’s own – no so much. But mix it with salted peanuts and it is addicting. It tastes just like a salted nut roll !! LOL !! So that is the only way we have it in our house.
