I have this wrap sweater that I wear around the house. It has black and white stripes, and I pretty much look exactly like the Hamburglar when I wear it. I refuse to get rid of it though. I just love stripes. So it only makes sense that I also love striped stationery.

If you’re a stamper, you know how tough it can be to create striped cards. Most stripe stamp sets aren’t long enough to span the entirety of an A2 card (i.e.  4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). You end up stamping twice and hoping that you line things up well – or maybe you just cover up the “seam” with an embellishment or strip of cardstock. In the end, perfectly stamped stripes are difficult to execute.

Then comes along a stamp set that solves the problem. Enter: Create-A-Plaid {Large} – I am majorly in love with this set. So much so, that I got Andrew on board to film a little infomercial…

  1. LMAO!!! Andrew you are a natural! You are the cutest couple EVEr! I want to see more of these vids. Love! Oh and the cards are cool too!

  2. Andrew! Another guy who has embraced his crafty side! 🙂 This informercial was classic! Heading to C&S right now. Thanks, Amber! 🙂

  3. Hahahaha!!!! I totally laughed out loud at this. You’re so creative Amber.
Love the video and of course the cards!

  4. Love the stamp set and the dynamic duo! Just want to know your secret on how to evenly line up the stripes. Thanks for making my day.

    1. Hey Susan!!

For narrow spacing between stripes, I just eyeball it ! I know…not a super helpful response right?! Well here’s a better explanation for wider spacing: I place my stripe stamp on the the block 1/2″ inch or so from the edge, then I use the edge of the acrylic block as a guide between stamping. As long as the block edge lines up with the previously stamped stripe, all the spacing will be even!

      1. Thanks Amber, I usually eyeball or use the edge of the block too but I just thought there has to be a better way! Love the new additions today especially since florals are so hot right now. Really like this set. I already picked up the background basic super stripes from pti…..think I would have preferred this set.

  5. Absolutely hilarious….although I was holding my breath for ‘But wait, order in the next 5 minutes….”!

Three cheers for Andrew – he is a team player!

Love all your samples, Amber – especially the bow -looks just like Burberry 🙂

  6. You are too funny ~ enjoyed the video. Your cards are fabulous ~ look commercially printed as your stripes are so even. What’s the trick? TFS!

  7. First, of all I love the cards. Stripes are classic and beautiful. Secondly, your husband is quite the sport to do this. Y’all are too cute!

  8. Great video, Amber…and I think your hubby is a “keeper”…so CUTE and FUN!
Thanks for sharing all of your cards, too…they’re so pretty!

  9. Oh, I meant to ask: When you created the “Over the Fold” card…did you score the card before or after you stamped the design?

    1. Barb:-)
Stamp then fold! Sometimes if you fold first and try to stamp over it, the impression isn’t smooth and consistent. HTH!

  10. Great cards (of course!) and the video scored very high on my adorability scale… and SO funny!!

  11. we definitely need a tutorial on how to mix different width stripes and how to get them evenly spaced to create these awesome plaids!

  12. Oh my goodness. The video is hilarious. My DH and kids (and me too) always make fun of those absurd infomercials. Glad to know we’re not the only ones. Does this mark Andrew’s beginnings as an actor? 😉

  13. As if Andrew and his craftiness at your proposal weren’t enough, he does this, too?! So. Adorable!!

I love nautical anything so those cards definitely caught my eye. Love the ombre. Love the preppy. Oh, who am I kidding? Love them all! 🙂

  14. Best infomercial ever!!! I love, love, stripes, must have a look to see if they ship to Australia. Love your blog. x

  15. Amber, that infomercial was TOO FUNNY! Love it!! Your husband is such a good sport! Thanks for the laughs! 😀 Love all the beautiful examples for backgrounds you did with that stamp set too – that’s gonna have to go straight to the top of my next order list. I <3 stripes!
