Someone once told me this: “The point of a DIY post is not to show your readers HOW to do something, rather to show them that it’s POSSIBLE to do something!”

With today’s project, I’m hoping to do both. Ever since Scotty Wonders designed and created our faux mantle, I’ve been dying to use it as a frame for a handmade advent calendar. I knew the advent calendar had to be a colorful showstopper…but with 24 pieces, it had to also be very easy and minimally time consuming. With that in mind, I turned to my Cricut Maker to create this adorable pegboard felt stocking advent calendar.

The new Cricut Maker can handle felt beautifully, and lately, I’ve fallen in love with all things felt. In addition to the Cricut Maker, the new Cricut EasyPress will make you wonder how you ever got along with out it! Unlike your standard home iron, the EasyPress creates even heat and has timer and temperature buttons so you can adjust the settings to every project.

Let me show you how I used the EasyPress and Cricut Maker to create this pegboard felt stocking advent calendar.

You’ll need:

  1. Wool felt – I love to buy felt from HERE (I go for the 9×12″ sheet bundles)
  2. Wood dowels (1/4″ works best)
  3. The Cricut Maker (there’s an awesome bundle available right now!)
  4. Gold glitter iron-on material
  5. The Cricut EasyPress
  6. You’ll also need a large white pegboard, which you can pick up at a local hardware store

STEP ONE

Use THIS Cricut Design Space canvas to cut mini stocking from the wool felt. Each stocking has two layers and a cuff. For this project, I used 14 sheets of 9×12″ felt for the stocking and a roll of vanilla felt for the cuffs.

STEP TWO

Cut THIS Design Space canvas from gold glitter iron on – these are all the numbers you’ll need for your stocking advent calendar.

STEP THREE

Use the Cricut EasyPress to adhere a glitter number to each stocking. Hint: Use THIS guide for setting the temperature and timer on your EasyPress.

I decided to add a little bit of decoration to the Christmas Eve stocking . A glittery wreath was the perfect touch.

STEP FOUR

No, that is not a cigarette! I cut the wood dowels down to 2″ long pieces and painted them white. No need to paint the entire dowel, since part of it will be hidden once placed in the pegboard.

Now, whether you create this exact advent calendar or not, I hope this project serves as a little reminder of what’s possible! With a little help from the right tools, you can make some pretty awesome stuff, my friends.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
