Hold on to your hats and glasses…and go grab your watercolors. Today’s tutorial is one of my absolute favorites because it features my newest partner-in-crime: Liquid Frisket. I came across this stuff on line a few weeks ago and needed to have it immediately. I woke up early the next morning and was at the art supply store when they opened the doors. Craft emergencies are a real thing and this was a big one.

Here’s the low-down in liquid frisket:

LIquid Frisket Stationery | Damask Love BlogNow that we’ve gotten introductions out of the way – let’s make something with this stuff…like a pretty set of simple stationery.

LIquid Frisket Stationery | Damask Love Blog{1} Write out your sentiment with the liquid frisket applicator bottle onto watercolor paper. Β Allow the liquid to dry completely. Once it is dry, it will be transparent.

{2} Apply the watercolor across the liquid frisket sentiment and allow the watercolors to dry.

{3} Pull upward to peel off the liquid frisket. This will reveal your masked sentiment beneath.

What do you think? Will you give this a try?! The technique is quick and easy and the results are very organic and handmade, which I love. The simplicity also leaves lots of room for creative additions. Β I’d love to hear about your frisket adventures!SupplyListHEader

  1. Oh my gosh, that is the neatest stuff! You created such pretty cards with it. I have to get my hands on some of that…so many possibilities! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Heather Telford uses something similar (she calls it liquid mask) and she “flicks” it onto a watercolor paper, lets it dry, then sponges or watercolors and stamps and then rubs the mask off and it gives a great effect – especially if creating a snowy scene.

      1. Hehe…. Well I’ve been playing Video games and watching anime since ages! The fact of using the honor wording has became a habit!!
I hope I did not offend you in any way whatsoever.
        Please mind this Otaku!!!! >_<

  3. I am loving the new info you provide about the crafts, skill level, supply level, etc. Such great information. I am also loving the inspiration, especially this one. Bravo, girl!!

  4. Awe shuckey duckey now! I’ve gotta order that on Amazon since I’m in the middle of another project. Thanks Amber for the enabling post! πŸ˜‰

  7. I actually received and cherish one of these cards from you – when I saw it I thought it was so beautiful and clever I wondered how you did it/now I know! And I have to get me some of that!!! Thanks for the tip and the beautiful card that graces my wall in my craft room!

  8. Wonderful technique, Amber – CArds are beautiful! Funny, though – there must have been some subliminal messages going on – I was just thinking about this stuff – LOL

  9. Neat concept. After watching your tutorial, I went and found my liquid frisket, applicators and watercolor paper. I’m waiting for the frisket to dry, and will lay some color on it. I’ll let you know how it came out.

    Thanks for the inspiration,

    Carmen L

  10. Isn’t this stuff the best!!! You can even brush it on! We use to use this in art school!! I had forgotten the name of it but wanted to get it again. I bought something the sales girl said was definitely it…it wasn’t!! Thanks bunches for finding the correct goodie

  11. Holy watercolor this is awesome!! I’m totally NOT crafty at all, but THIS…now this I can do! I have the perfect project for it too. Thank you so much for sharing this. I popped over to your blog via the blogger awards and I’m
    So happy I did!

  12. Hi! Instead of using that frisket, you can use such a simple thing as a candle:) we used to do that in the kindergarden all the time:D but I think you have to use watercolours if you use a candle though, not sure

  13. I can’t wait to try this out. I am so glad to have stumble d onto this site. How do I find you? Please let me know. I see you are a talented lady. God Bless

  14. For the “hand-writing challenged” person–maybe you could use a stencil of each letter, and trace around it with the liquid frisket? Just a thought….

  15. The paper peels when I remove the liquid frisket. I’ve tried using watercolor paper and smooth cardstock. Any suggestions?

  16. I have been looking everywhere on the web for the perfect way to apply masking fluid but sadly we don’t have anything quite the same here in HK….
On the one hand I cannot let the precious bottle cap keep opened the whole time, on the other hand it’s really hard to keep the fluid flowing and complete the stokes with a brush.

  17. What’s up,I check your blog named “Liquid Frisket Stationery – Damask Love” like every week.Your story-telling style is awesome, keep up the good work! And you can look our website about proxy list.
