You’ve been waiting patiently for this one! If you tuned into last month to my Facebook Live with JOANN Fabric & Craft Stores, you saw me create one of these easy throw pillows using the Cricut Maker and Cricut EasyPress. Ever since then, you’ve been asking for a tutorial on how to put these easy holiday throw pillows together – and today is the day!

These easy holiday throw pillows are incredibly simple to make and require VERY little sewing ability, thanks to THESE zippered pillow protectors. If you can sew a straight line, you can make these pillows in no time. The rest of the work is up to your Cricut Maker and yourCricut EasyPress. I can promise you this, you’ll want to make a pile of these. Once you start, it’s very hard to stop!

STEP ONE

Cut all of the materials using your Cricut Maker. The new Maker has a Rotary Blade that makes it possible to cut any fabric.

You can access each of these projects in Design Space by clicking HERE.

STEP TWO

Turn the pillow inside-out. Measure the width of your pillow case (in this case it was 18″), then measure 18″ down the length of the pillow. Use a ruler to draw a line down that 18″ mark.

STEP THREE

Use a sewing machine to stitch down the line, then cut off the excess. This will create a square pillow case.

STEP FOUR

Generously apply the fabric decoupage to the back of the fabric cut out, then place the cut out directly onto the pillow case

STEP FIVE

Once the fabric decoupage has dried (about 30 minutes), use the Cricut EasyPress to add the iron on accents. Remember to use THIS chart to help you determine the correct temperature and time settings for your project.

STEP SIX

Last up, use the Fabri-Tac Glue to adhere pom-pom trim around the edge of the square pillow case.

  1. I love this project! Please tell me, when I am cutting the pillow case into a square, am I also cutting the zipper that’s on the pillow case?

    1. When you cut the pillow case to a square, you’ll leave the zipper on! You’ll cut along the other side of the pillow, leaving the zipper in place so you can have somewhere to insert a pillow form.
