DIY Keep In Touch Kit with Text

This post is coming to you from the friendly skies somewhere above Colorado…gotta love a mid-flight blog post, right? I’m heading to Altitude Summit in Salt Lake City where I will learn tons about blogging and hang out with some of the best dressed bloggers out there (…I hope my wardrobe is up to snuff).  If you’re interested in an up to the minute feed of the happenings in SLC, I’ll be sharing photos and tips via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! Hope to see you there.

In the meantime, I’m gonna share a little DIY project I just finished up (literally…I worked through the night and finished these at 5am!)  See – business cards are a big deal at ALT. The bloggers pull out all their creativity to make cards that speak to their brand. Check out THIS POST from Creature Comforts, showing off all the awesome business cards from last years conference. At ALT business cards are more than a 3×2″ piece of cardstock. They are swag. They are gifts. They are …um…fabulous.

For my business card, I wanted to create something handmade that spoke to the Damask Love brand. Damask Love is all about creating with paper and encouraging others to get creative with cardstock. Soooo…what better way to share the Damask Love brand, than to create simple kits of crafting supplies!

The idea for these Keep In Touch Kits is to provide bloggers at ALT with a few simple tools to create unique, handmade cards that they can later use to keep in touch with all the friends they make at the conference. What do you think? I sort of love the idea!

Keep In Touch Kits Storyboard

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ve seen bits and pieces of this project for the last few weeks! Inside each kit, I’ve included several handmade items that can be used creativity in lots of ways:

{LOGO CARD BASES}  I had a logo stamp created for Damask Love and used it to stamp the back of white card bases. This offers a touch of branding to each card, but allows each person to add their own style and design the card front.

{WHITE ENVELOPES} Of course, you need envelopes if you’re gonna mail these off to your new blogger friends!

{WOODEN WASHI TAGS} I cut 100 wooden tags from a piece of thin birch and then wrapped washi around each tag. I chose colors that stayed true to the Damask Love brand but also offered variety and fun.

{WOOD VENEER EMBELLISHMENTS} I am a little bit obsessed with the wood veneer embellishments available through Studio Calico, and since I’m now a designer for SC, I thought it only made sense to include these in the kits.

{BUTTONS} Um…pretty self explanatory. I put buttons in the kits. Nothing more I can really say about that one.

{PATTERNED PAPER STICKERS} I wanted to include patterned paper in the kits, but wanted it to be more functional than a simple sheet of paper. So, I punched out patterned paper circles and ran them through my Xyron Sticker Maker. Again, I chose colors that jived with the brand.

{HELLO STICKERS} A big thank you to California Crafts for providing hundreds of these adorable scalloped circle “Hello” stickers! I saw them on Etsy and thought they would be the perfect addition to these kits!

{STAMPED BANNERS} I added another sentiment option to the kit by creating  some simple banners from kraft cardstock. I stamped each with a sassy sentiment from the new Studio Calico Collections, Sundrifter and Snippets.  I love how these look!

{ADHESIVE FOAM SQUARES} The generous folks at Scrapbook Adhesives sent over a ton of their Thin Adhesive Squares for me to include in this kit! Honestly, these squares are my favorite dimensional adhesive and I’m excited to pass on the obsession at Alt Summit!

{BUSINESS CARDS} Duh.

If you’re interested in seeing what the bloggers at Alt do with these kits, search for #damasklove on Twitter and Instagram! I’ve included a label on  each kit asking everyone to post a photo of their creation!

P.S. This evening, I’ll be posting the winner of the spot in the Clean & Simple 2 Online Card Class! Stay Tuned!

  2. I just love your kit that you are going to include with your business card. I also love the card that you made that shares a new address. Very creative!!!

  3. If you want to access Windows computers, you must also know your Windows administrator’s profile information, in addition to the name of the Windows workgroup that contains the files you want to access.

  4. To access other Macs, you must edit your user privileges on the network using the profile, username, and password of your network administrator.
