Ever heard of “Christmas In July?”  Well that’s the inspiration for this month’s Clear and Simple Stamps group post.

I’m not sure where this whole “Christmas in July” thing came from – pretty sure the people at Target got together with the people at Walmart, who were both in talks with Hallmark and they all decided to make everyone start buying holiday stuff, even when it’s still 95 degrees outside. They can’t fool me though – I have every intention of waiting until December 23rd to do all of my Christmas shopping and cursing the world while I do it – what can I say – I’m stubborn like that.

Anywho – onto today’s projects.

I decided to pull out my Ragdoll: House set and do a little creative stamping. Here’s what went down…

Welcome to my little neighborhood!
For each of these little houses, I started with the Gable Box/Party Favor 5 Die and scored along the length of the box before assembling. The score lines created the looking of paneling, making the house look a tad more realistic.
For the remaining elements of the houses, I stamped and cut out various images of the Ragdoll: House stamp set, including the windows, doors and shrubs. For the roof tiles, I used the Scallops dies and stamps

Now, I’m pretty sure you can see which of these three little houses fits into the Christmas in July theme, right?

With a few of the stamp images from Sweet Tooth and Cookie Bake, I was able to create my own little gingerbread house! Yummy!
I wanted to share a few more, non-holiday options for creating your own gable box house – so I went the more traditional route for this one as well as the next.
On this one, the smallest Border: Scallop die was perfect for creating a realistic rooftop!
Now that you’ve seen my crafty take on Christmas in July, be sure to take a look at what the rest of the team has to share!

Keep on crafting with these other posts

  1. Gorgeous little houses! I can let you know that Christmas in July is fabulous in Australia – because it’s winter here, so a nice warm Christmas dinner is just what the doctor ordered 🙂

  2. These are adorable, I think you did a great job decorating and using the space you have – also, using stamps I’m impressed you were able to get the size ratios so perfectly. Very nice!!
