I’ve got a card today that is unlike anything I’ve ever made. Lord knows I love me a clean and simple white card base…so when Casual Friday threw down their black card base challenge, I thought I’d join in.

I have owned the same package of Papertrey Ink True Black cardstock since 2010 – that’s how often I use black cardstock…pretty much never.

With today’s project, though, I made up for all my neglect of black cardstock and tried out something new.

I used black embossing powder to add texture to this card and I’m loving the way it turned out.
When I showed this card to Andrew, he told me that it looked like a thank you card that you send someone after they’ve invited you to the Grammy’s…I really don’t know where he comes up with this stuff.
Gotta tell you though – I agree that this would be a great Grammy thank you card…anyone want to invite me to the Grammy’s? I’ll give you this card if you do!
This is one card I’d better keep in my stash – you never know when I’m gonna get that invitation!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day.
Supplies:
Stamps:  Fiskars (Henna Petals), Papertrey Ink (Inside & Out Thank You)
Ink: Ranger Embossing Ink
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (True Black)
Other: Stampendous Black Embossing Powder

Keep on crafting with these other posts

  1. This is stunning! Love that background you created! Andrew sounds hilarious and a lot like my Kent with his “opinions”! lol!

Thanks for playing along with us at CAS-ual Fridays this week!

  2. Amber, this is such an elegant card. Not only did you create a beautifully textured, and pretty, card, but you also managed to photograph it (black is tricky!). Fantastic! Good luck with that invitation. 😉

  3. Wow! Such an elegant card. LOVE the black embossed on black. and a gorgeous simple raised sentiment just finishes it beautifully. LOVE it! Thanks so much for playing along with us @ CAS-ual Fridays:)

  4. I absolutely love all your work, but this one demands extra attention! This is strikingly gorgeous!!! I have to chuckle though because I’ve planned a very similar idea for a card to teach for my Monochromatic Card Series in October. Again, this is gorgeous Amber!!.
